Assistant Historian - Bob Poor
Biography
I went to school in Rensselaer
Falls for eight years and to Canton High School for four years.
While there, I played Basketball and Baseball. I graduated in 1957.
I started and apprenticeship
for electrical construction and finished as a Journeyman in October
of 1959. I joined the United States Air Force in May of 1960 and
was discharged in May of 1964. I was stationed in Texas for 6 months
and Bangor Maine for three and a half years.
I married my wife Betty
42 years ago and we raised five children. I have lived at 549 Front
Street for 42 years.
I was a member of many
organizations including the Community Center in the old school,
the Chamber of Commerce, the Rensselaer Falls Village Board for
8 years, the Masons for 49 years, I was a Boy Scout Leader, a member
of the Grange, and with the Fire Department for 50 years. I worked
in electrical construction for 40 years and have been a member
of the Historical Society for 20 years.
